Who We Are

Ed Kirchmier, MBA, CPA/PFS, is founder of Kirchmier Financial Services, L.L.C., (KFS) a Fee-Only financial planning firm serving South Florida. He has been a Certified Public Accountant for 40 years and has been awarded the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ed is an honors graduate of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

Ed started his financial services career with an international public accounting firm. He has served in financial management of publicly-traded companies, including three financial institutions, two technology companies and an airline, holding Chief Financial Officer or Controller positions as well as managing audit, administration and human resources functions. Throughout this period, he prepared individual and corporate income tax returns for friends and family. After obtaining securities licenses and valuable experience in financial planning, insurance and investment management techniques over three years as a commissioned broker, he decided to leave the brokerage way of busine\ss and started KFS in 2005 with a mission to provide independent, objective Fee-Only financial planning advice to people from all walks of life.

In addition to his formal training, Ed has a wealth of experience in the practical aspects of personal financial management. He has joined with his wife to raise five children to adulthood and guide each of them through the financial aspects of attending and graduating from private and public colleges. He has managed his family investments using asset allocation methods, evaluated and purchased life, health and property insurance, purchased homes with mortgages, developed a family estate plan and planned for the retirement years. During his corporate career, Ed assisted large and small companies in establishing and administering 401(K) and deferred compensation plans, purchasing employee and employer insurance plans and managing investments.

Ed is committed to serving his clientele on an independent, as-needed basis. This service model allows him to provide just the advice you need, when you need it, and with terms you can afford. Ed and his wife, Kathy, have lived in the Hollywood community for over 40 years. They have been active members of Nativity Catholic Church, serving in leadership roles in the Parish Council, Christian Family Movement, Engaged Couples Encounter Day and other volunteer areas. Their five children were raised in Hollywood, completed college degrees at Universities of Notre Dame, Dayton, Florida State and Nova Southeastern and are members of the South Florida CPA, Consulting and Teaching professions. Ed has served on the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Fort Lauderdale Board of Directors and various officer positions, including President, for over 15 years. He was born and raised in the Panama Canal Zone and was a member of the first youth baseball team from overseas to compete for the Little League Baseball World Series. He thoroughly enjoys following his favorite sports teams.
